All the buzz and the action are about Chatbot GPT, Bard, and large language model generative text and imaging capabilities. I’ve heard this hailed as the most important invention since electricity and fire.
I want to call a giant timeout and bubble alert. As you know, as a first step in my analytic process, I assiduously track insider buying and selling using paid services like Secform4.com to scrape free information off the SEC Edgar website. I try to fathom what the insider sees that Mr. Market may be missing. So I asked Bard (Google’s beta AI offering) what insider filings were processed on the SEC Edgar site. This is what came back as copied and pasted below The only problem with this is that it is a complete fabrication.
The last time Satya Nadella filed for any type on Edgar was 2-28-23 when he sold 4,767 shares at $248.88. I don’t see Amy Hood, CFO, making an open market purchase of Microsoft EVER. Similar shenanigans were found searching on Alphabet. It’s free. If you don’t believe me check Edgar for yourself
What’s worse than bad information when making financial decisions? Inaccurate information posing as fact. When it comes to the most challenging game of all time, the stock market, these large language models are more like a new shell game that the public hasn’t seen before.
If you are interested in real information about what insiders are doing, stick with Edgar or The Insiders Fund Not So Daily Digest. Financial advisors should have no fear of being replaced by Chatbot GPT or Bard.
