It’s no surprise that hackers would covet this information but you don’t have to steal it. The SEC mandates that officers, directors, and 10% shareholders file a Form 4 detailing their buying and selling of their companies’ securities within 48 hours of the date of the transaction. The SEC makes this info immediately available to the public. This is as close to “inside information” as the average investor is likely to come across and unlike unauthorized access to government servers, it’s completely legal.
